Detroit Chinese Engineers Association held DIAC Event

The Detroit Chinese Engineering Association hosted a successful event- Detroit International Automotive Conference on April 19th 2023, the highlights of which are described below. The event kicked off with a check-in and networking session from 5:00 – 6:00 PM. Attendees mingled and got to know each other before the official program began.

At 6:00 PM, the event began with a welcome and VIP introduction, followed by distinguished remarks from Mark Bohm, Guangquan Wu, Rona Lum, and Hong Jiang. They set the tone for the event and welcomed the attendees. Next up was the DCEA Annual Report by Dr. Zifeng Nie, DCEA President. He provided an update on the organization's activities and initiatives over the past year. After the report, dinner was served at 6:30 PM. At 6:40 PM, the Awards and Acknowledgements portion of the event began. Academic achievement was recognized, with Alan Luo, Jay Zhou, Wayne Cai, and Jianbo Lu being awarded. The sponsors and speakers were also appreciated, including WeiChai, VGage, Dickinson Wright PLLC, CAS-HengLong, FIA-Lujin, and Generalety.

At 7:00 PM, the first keynote speaker, Prof. Alan Luo, Member of National Academy of Engineering, TMS & SAE Fellow, gave a talk titled “Sustainable Materials and Manufacturing for Vehicle Lightweighting”. He discussed the latest developments in materials science and manufacturing techniques for vehicles, with a focus on reducing weight for improved efficiency and sustainability.

The first raffle took place at 7:25 PM, adding some excitement to the event.

At 7:35 PM, the second keynote speaker, Dr. Jay Zhou, CTO at JHZ Strategic QA, SAE &ASQ Fellows, spoke on “AV and EV Reliability”. He discussed the importance of reliability in autonomous and electric vehicles, and shared insights on how to improve reliability in these systems.

The second raffle took place at 8:00 PM.

The final keynote speaker, Jun Wang, President, CalmCar Vision Systems, took the stage at 8:05 PM to discuss “Data Driven Development for ADAS & AD Systems”. He shared his insights on how data analysis and machine learning can be used to develop and improve advanced driver assistance systems and autonomous driving systems.

The event concluded with closing remarks at 8:30 PM, leaving the attendees inspired and informed by the excellent presentations and discussions that took place.
